Role Summary
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller is responsible for accounting close processes, financial and operational analysis, consolidation accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting. A strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, you will make it your mission to streamline our budgeting and financial reporting processes. You will produce thorough financial-status reports for senior management to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth.

What You Will Do

  • In conjunction with the CFO, establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards
  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points
  • Procure and implement integrated budgeting and automated reporting systems with the latest technology
  • Assess other department areas for process improvement and automation
  • Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to the current economic landscape
  • Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective action
  • Responsible for managing the month-end and year-end close procedures for multiple entities
  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation
  • Oversee and support the accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
  • Build relationships with senior management team and other internal business stakeholders
  • Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies, continually looking for new ways to analyze the business and drive productivity.

    What You Will Bring

    Required:
    • 8-10 years in a similar position with senior financial responsibilities
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
    • Experience, aptitude, and understanding of data analytics and related technologies (e.g. Power BI)
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, and Budgeting applications
    • Must have experience in delivering projects and initiatives that deliver measurable financial results with a focus on driving organic growth
    • Experience with organizations with multiple subsidiaries and locations is strongly preferred
    • Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data and financial statement analysis
    • Working knowledge of finance law and accounting standards (GAAP)
    • Strong understanding of economic and banking processes
    • Proven ability to think strategically, plan effectively and promote a team environment
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
    • High degree of self-discipline and motivation
    • Strong analytical skills
      Preferred:
      • CPA
      • MBA or related advanced degree
      • Insurance industry experience
