Job Description Job Description Description: Position Summary The Afterschool Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate afterschool program for school-age scholars. This role ensures high-quality supervision, academic support, enrichment activities, and positive behavior guidance while maintaining compliance with all licensing and program standards. Key Responsibilities Program Implementation & Instruction Plan and facilitate daily afterschool activities aligned with program curriculum and enrichment goals Provide homework assistance and academic support Lead structured activities including SEL, literacy, STEM, arts, and recreation Create a classroom environment that is engaging, organized, and supportive Supervision & Safety Maintain active supervision of scholars at all times Ensure compliance with safety procedures, transitions, and emergency protocols Monitor attendance and scholar accountability Maintain a clean, safe, and well-prepared classroom Classroom Management & Behavior Support Implement positive behavior guidance strategies Foster respectful scholar interactions and social-emotional growth Address behavioral concerns using program-approved practices Communication & Collaboration Maintain open, professional communication with families and administration Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth program operations Provide updates regarding scholar progress or concerns Compliance & Documentation Maintain accurate records (attendance, incident reports, lesson plans, etc.) Ensure classroom practices meet licensing and organizational standards Participate in required trainings and professional development Requirements: Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent & Preschool CDA Experience working with school-age children Strong classroom management skills Ability to plan and lead structured activities Preferred Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field Prior afterschool or school-age program experience CPR / First Aid Certification
