Job Description
TurboChef is seeking a professional, skilled individual to work in our laboratory located at our Carrolton, TX location. This individual works with the Engineering team to develop, evaluate and certify commercial cooking products. Provides expertise in product safety compliance and evaluation of product designs.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for performing testing and
evaluation on a variety of Life Safety and Security products to determine
compliance with applicable US, Canadian and other international product
safety standards, writing reports; and communicating with agency and
engineering.
Read and determine applicability of national/international
codes and standards for the product being tested and/or evaluated.
Set up and operate EUT; perform and document simple repairs
on EUT as needed.
Set up and operate standard test equipment including, but not
limited to; power meter or power analyzer, data logger, spectrum analyzer,
oscilloscope, dielectric strength tester, ground continuity tester,
digital multi-meter, surge generator, over-voltage tester, environmental
condition chamber, articulated probes.
Use hand tools to build/calibrate test fixtures.
Core tests include, but are not limited to normal operation,
power input or rating, leakage current, dielectric, temperature,
endurance, transients, variable ambient, humidity, pressure, stability,
mechanical hazard, flammability, abnormal operations etc.
Demonstrate enough product and/or standards knowledge to be
considered an expert in multiple product categories.
Conducts various product testing including door cycle
testing, agency testing, interlock switch testing, door latch spring cycle
testing, etc.
Supports new product development initiatives including
prototype and pilot builds.
Works with members of the engineering team to accomplish
their test requirements.
Installs and monitors life test units.
Supports warranty improvement, production, and marketing
requests.
Supports field test unit evaluations.
Evaluates returned parts and units.
Qualifications:
Familiarity with or ability to read and interpret safety
codes and properly administer product evaluations the standards.
3-5 years related product testing experience or equivalent
combination of training/education and experience.
Very strong electrical and mechanical skills.
Demonstrable problem-solving skills.
Demonstrable decision-making skills
Computer proficiency utilizing MS Word, Excel. Education:
BSEE or Technical Degree w/ Experience, advanced technical
degree desired
