Positional Overview The Design Engineer is responsible for
developing, optimizing, and sustaining product designs that support
efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality manufacturing. This
individual contributor role works closely with cross-functional
teams including Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering,
Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure designs meet performance
requirements while aligning with manufacturing capabilities and
scalability. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with a
strong focus on Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for
Assembly (DFA), and continuous improvement throughout the product
lifecycle. Role & Responsibility: Tasks That Will Lead To Your
Success Lead product design efforts with a strong emphasis on
manufacturability, assembly optimization, and cost efficiency.
Review and refine product designs and engineering documentation to
ensure alignment with manufacturing capabilities and production
processes. Conduct DFM/DFA reviews and provide clear, actionable
feedback to engineering and product development teams. Collaborate
with suppliers and internal manufacturing teams to evaluate
materials, tooling, and production methods. Identify and implement
design improvements to reduce manufacturing costs, scrap rates, and
cycle times while maintaining quality and performance standards.
Perform tolerance analysis, root cause problem solving, and design
updates based on testing and production feedback. Support new
product introduction (NPI) efforts from concept and prototyping
through production launch and ramp-up. Create, revise, and maintain
engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, and Bills of
Materials (BOMs). Ensure designs comply with internal standards,
customer requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across design and
manufacturing processes. Perform additional duties as assigned in
support of engineering and operational objectives. Skills &
Experience Qualifications That Will Help You Thrive Required
Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering,
Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related
discipline. 5 years of experience in Design Engineering, Product
Engineering, or a related engineering role with strong DFM/DFA
focus. Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo,
CATIA, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of manufacturing
processes including machining, molding, casting, metal fabrication,
and assembly. Experience applying GD&T, tolerance stack-ups,
material selection, and cost analysis principles. Strong
analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and
external suppliers. Preferred Experience Experience supporting
products from concept through full production lifecycle.
Familiarity with PLM systems and engineering change management
processes. Experience working in a high-volume or regulated
manufacturing environment. Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or
continuous improvement methodologies.
