Director of Respiratory Therapy, Carrollton General Information Job Title: Director of Respiratory Therapy Location: 1502 N Jefferson Street United States Employee Type: Regular Full Time Job Category: Clinical Services 3 Years Required Degree: 2 Year Degree Manage Others: Yes Contact information Name: Human Resources Fax Phone: 660-542-0363 Description Position Summary The Director of--Respiratory Therapy--is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of the--Respiratory--Therapy--Department in a manner consistent with the hospitals ICARE values. The Director ensures compliance with all patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all patients. The Director is responsible to supervise and ensure competency of department staff members and maintain efficient department operation in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, protocols and policies. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Develops, assesses and evaluates Respiratory Therapy policies and procedures for the care, needs, treatment and services for the department to ensure the standards of patient care needs and treatment are met to improve patient outcomes. Maintains and applies up-to-date, in-depth operational knowledge of Respiratory Therapy services provided; serves as the technical and operational leader to include survey readiness. Acts as a patient advocate and maintains privacy and confidentiality in accordance with all applicable requirements. Provide effective leadership and direction in delivering patient care, treatment and services; develops goals and objective for Respiratory Therapy service lines; participates in frequent rounding of patient and staff areas; performs day-to-day departmental duties as required. Collaborate and communicate with providers, staff, and hospital leadership to achieve established goals as they relate to patient satisfaction, outcomes, quality, productivity, and financial performance. Monitor and evaluate processes and workflows; provides recommendations to optimize performance/outcomes; works with clinic team and hospital leadership to implement recommended strategies. Manage quality improvement studies to establish, maintain, and improve processes and procedures to deliver best-in-class patient experience, clinical outcomes and financial performance. Participates in the selection, orientation, training, development, and evaluation of staff members; monitors staff performance; recognizes staff members for meeting or exceeding performance standards; provides performance coaching and/or counseling as appropriate in accordance with hospital policy. Plans and maintains staffing and schedules; responsible for managing time and attendance activities related to the hospital's payroll process. Regularly rounds with staff members; seeks and provides feedback, addresses all concerns in a timely manner. Responsible for the regular review of the department's income statement and financial performance; responsible to ensure the department operates in a fiscally responsible manner via managing revenue, expenses, and resource allocation. Communicates relevant revenue and expense information to hospital leadership and administrative staff as appropriate. Actively participates in local and regional marketing strategies to develop value-based partnerships within the community to promote Respiratory Therapy service lines. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements for clinical services, operational/technical services, and evidence-based practices. Ensure all established policies, procedures, standards of practice, and conduct guidelines are followed in accordance with all applicable rules, regulations, and hospital policy. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization; assesses and responds appropriately to organizational culture; exhibits professional, interpersonal, and communication skills. Pursues professional growth by sharing knowledge, attending, and being involved in professional organizations. Performs other duties as assigned Requirements Education/Experience Registered Respiratory Therapist Basic Life Support (BLS) certification In Depth knowledge of respiratory therapy procedures, principles, and instruments 5+ years of Respiratory Therapy experience in a hospital setting preferred Previous Supervisory/Management Experience; Healthcare/Clinical experience preferred Ability to foster a positive team atmosphere through effective interpersonal skills Able to communicate using both verbal and written format effectively Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills Ability to use multiple electronic systems, software, internet, and computer skills Note This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) in this position.
