The Employee Relations Manager is charged with leading a small "tiger team" of focused ER Human Resources Business Partners supporting over 2000 employees in 170 locations across the United States of America. The ideal candidate for this position has top-notch employee relations management experience leading a team of investigators, familiar with employee relations best practices, documentation, finding protocols and working within complex policy, discipline processes and legal environment supporting a highly distributed workforce. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to earn trust across the organization, expertise in deep diving into complex issues and agility to work successfully on a broad spectrum of employee and labor relations issues and business challenges while simultaneously building and leading a team. In addition, this individual has demonstrated knowledge of employee and labor relations and legal risk identification, risk mitigation, and the development and delivery of training on these topics. Experience with California, Colorado, Illinois labor law is required. Must be able to develop and train both direct reports and site managers across the account in employee relations topics.

This highly visible, high demand, role requires frequent travel to sites across North America to support corporate- wide employee wide investigations (average 25% per month)


Employee Relations /Investigation Oversight

* Lead investigation process and team in highly sensitive Human Resources (HR) and Employee Relations (ER) issues, including analyzing data from various internal systems; approving case adjudication; proposing remedial action based on investigation findings; production of thorough investigation documentation.
* Determines appropriate approach, interviews appropriate parties in an investigation in review of concerns on matters related to policy or culture concerns/violations and workplace behaviors
* Documents findings maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality and demonstrates leadership to influence direction of initiatives and investigations
* Collaborates with partners across stakeholders to seek counsel from senior peers or managers as needed on proposed strategy weighing complexity, sensitivity, and parties involved
* Works closely with Human Resources Director and Legal Team on active case management

Employee Relations HRBP Team Oversight

* Oversight/direct management of a small team of Human Resources Business Partner team management reporting into this role supporting 2000+ employees in 170 locations - this is a remote/travel team support employee relations investigations and resolution across the account (United States)
* POC for Operational and HR Leaders for questions or issues that arise related to site Human Resources Business Partner manager and employee support in the field in identification, risk management, employee relations investigation and resolution process. Help navigate any barriers to enhance partnership between the operations and human resources team members
* Analyze casework trends for respective business line and partner with field HR and Operational Leaders to identify insights and produce strategic recommendations to the business to proactively address systemic issues
* Develop site visit schedules, agendas, check lists and other proactive tools to ensure site level engagement and proactive approach to employee relations in the field
* Develop and deliver training on "how to" identify retention and employee relations risks, how to mitigate risks, how to manage escalations, how to have stay conversations and other critical topics to support employee engagement and relations evolving "best-practices"
* Leads team to meet key KPIs and supports Site KPIs including but not limited to retention, staffing, and site employee relations/engagement metrics, successful case mitigation/resolution
* Drives continuous improvement in all core processes and performance of team across the account

Investigator Scope/Investigation Oversight

* Acts as point of escalation for cases that cannot be addressed at the Human Resources Business Partner/site level
* Investigate highly sensitive HR and Employee Relations issues, including: Conducting complainant, witness, and subject employee interviews; Analyzing data from various internal systems; Case adjudication; Proposing remedial action based on investigation findings; Production of completed investigation documentation
* Independently manage assigned casework, bringing investigations to closure rapidly and definitively
* Design, collect, and analyze multiple levels of employee and stakeholder feedback
* Analyze aggregate casework data to identify issue trends and opportunities for proactive issue mitigation
* Develops/Final reviewer of finding reports and recommendation actions for cases working with Human Resources Director, legal team, and Human Resources Business partners on executing in a fair, equitable, and in compliance with policy and all Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements



* 15+ years direct human resources experience
* 7+ years in role with specific additional demonstrated scope in employee/labor relations, investigative, or employment law experience, and demonstrated passion for employee relations, labor relations, investigations, or labor/employment law with an emphasis on labor and employee relations work. Must have California, Colorado, and Illinois exposure
* 7+ years managing a team of 3-10 human resources business partners is required - remote or distributed team experience within a multi-state environment with employee relations focus is preferred
* Proficient understanding of federal and state employment and labor laws - specific experience with California law is required. Additional direct experience with Colorado and Illinois is preferred.
* 3+ years of direct experience overseeing teams conducting investigative fieldwork, including complainant, witness, and target employee interviews, investigative data analysis, and production of investigative documentation, finding reports, recommend action in alignment with discipline policies, and working with legal, leadership and field teams to implement approved recommendations
* Prior experience supporting hourly employee employees at complex, distributed, sites with 1,500 or more employees
* Technically proficient in Microsoft Office Suite systems including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Bachelor's degree in human resources, employee relations, law or other, related, field is required
* Ability to travel a minimum 25% across locations within the United States to support investigations/training


* Experience in manufacturing/construction/distributed field service or aftermarket environment
* Experience in both unionized and non-union environments
* Experience in conducting investigations virtually
* Experience in conducting complex HR investigations with hourly and exempt employees
* Experience in leading a large team of exempt investigators
* Advanced degree, JD, HR, or other specialized training in labor/employee relations a significant plus

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $103,500 - 133,500 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay other considerations include a variable incentive plan, and a range of medical, financial, tuition reimbursement, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
