Senior Accountant I - position focused on handling complex accounting conceptsDallas, TX (Carrollton area)

The TMX Finance Family of Companies is seeking a Senior Accountant I to join the team in our Carrollton Corporate Office! This position will focus on handling complex accounting concepts; with the ability to demonstrate technical experience with analyzing accruals for a self insured company. The Senior Accountant I will be responsible for executing full-cycle Accounting processes for assigned sections of the balance sheet and related business processes in compliance with company standards. Also responsible for analyzing business unit financial statements and developing variance explanations for distribution to management, comparison to actual, budget, and forecast. This employee will also partner cross-functionally to understand the business transaction and ensure that transactional activity is complete and coded accurately.The health and well-being of our Team Members, their families, and our customers remain a top priority for us. Heavy emphasis in handling complex accounting concepts; with heavy experience with accruals and analysis for self insured company with a focus on reserve analysis

Handling of Benefits or Payroll Accounting is huge plus

Demonstrate a strong business acumen for handling complex journal entries (areas of focus for this position will be on items such as deferred compensation, medical benefits, 401K, phantom stocks, bonuses, etc).

Ability to think outside the box and analyze the account to make recommendations on what needs to be recorded to the General Ledger

Participate in all aspects of the month-end close (assigned accruals, assigned reconciliations, analysis of accounts, etc.) that conform to GAAP in a timely and accurate mannerReconcile an assigned set of GL accounts monthly, proposing corrections as neededInput bi-weekly payroll uploads; reconciles all payroll and benefit related accounts on a monthly basisDetermines and verifies reason for any fluctuations in the expense and balance sheet related items for payroll and benefitsEnsuring timely and accurate monthly review of all assigned accountsResponsible for monthly expense accruals to support accurate monthly expense reporting on assigned GL accountsResponsible for thorough documentation of processes for assigned GL accounts

Prepare journal entries and whitepapers for complex and non-routine transactions including stock based compensation

Responsible for researching and documenting policies for assigned GL accounts to ensure GAAP compliance for review and approval by management teamDemonstrate strong understanding of process flows and internal controlsWork with other departments to ensure that transactional activity is coded accurately, and financial reporting integrity is maintainedAnalyze business unit financial statements monthly and develop variance explanations for distribution to management, comparison to actual, budget, and forecastAssist with special projects as assignedRespond to and resolve all internal and external inquiries in a timely manner


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required from an accredited college or university 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3-5 years of experience in handling complex accounting concepts (experience or knowledge and understanding of debits and credits for accounting for payroll and benefits is a huge plus) Must be able to drive continuous business process improvement, primarily through the use of technologies Must be able to work independently (with minimal supervision) to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects Must have strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects Must have strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills Excellent technical, oral, and written communication skills Working experience with Oracle is a plus Strong systems knowledge and/or experience working through ERP integrations is helpful Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access Must be able to use Excel effectively CPA and/or MBA is a plus Standing, walking, sitting, repetitive movements and use of mechanical controls, such as keyboard, are frequently required
