Job Description:
What You'll Do:Perform laboratory tests on construction
materials, interpret test data, and prepare reports and/or
summaries of test data under the direction of the laboratory
managerSpecific duties may be, but are not limited to soils
laboratory testing such as: Atterberg limits, gradation analyses,
swell testing, moisture content testing, visual classifications,
unconfined compressive strength testing of soil and rock, and
standard and modified proctor testingAdditional responsibilities
include data input and processing, compiling test results and other
administrative workAssist in maintaining a clean and organized lab
in compliance with QA/QC initiatives and accreditation
requirements, including calibration of laboratory equipment and
maintenance of calibration schedule and recordsMay also assist with
other laboratory functions as necessary and assist with field work
as neededWork Environment: The employee may be exposed to weather
conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, cold and/or heat,
dusty and noisy work environments. Noise levels will typically be
moderate to moderately loud. Some weekend and overtime work may be
required. You will at times also perform technician level duties.
Some overnight travel may be required.Physical Requirements: These
physical demands are representative of what a laboratory and field
technician may encounter and are essential functions of the
position. You will be involved primarily with laboratory work
involving long term standing and repetitive motions. You must have
the ability to use your hands to handle, finger or feel; reach,
climb or balance; crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit. You will
have the ability to see and smell; including close, distance and
peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus. Lifting - The
employee will regularly lift and/or move/shake up to 40 pounds
[soil and/or concrete tests and related apparatus]; frequently lift
and/or move up to 60-80 pounds [soils and sand samples, and nuclear
density equipment]; and occasionally move more than 100 pounds
[such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete or soil samples].

2 years of experiencePosition requires carrying 40 - 70 lbs
multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 lbs to waist
